Speaker:

Topic:
Transaction Concurrency Management
Features in Oracle
This presentation will discuss various approaches to leverage Oracle’s
scalability features.
We will cover the concepts and dictionary related to transactions and
various concurrency controls. We will discuss how Oracle achieves
concurrency using multi-versioning transaction model.
We will review 11g scalability features like Mutex implementation, fine
grained dependency management, adaptive cursor sharing , server result
cache, and partitioning enhancement.
Oracle is designed to be a scalable database but certain application
design and programming practices can cause significant locking and
inhibit scalability.
With the knowledge of oracle’s internal mechanism of concurrency
controls we should be able to avoid the performance issues related to
scalability and avoid many data integrity and consistency issues
related to deadlocks and lost updates.
New
Location information.
The
meeting will be held at the BIAS Corporation office (Same
building as Oracle).
